On one session in December 1927, Lonnie Johnson was added on guitar. The recordings of this radical are consider ed by many to be uneven, with some of the bl! unders (e.g. the mis-timed  nonsense at the termination of Heebie Jeebies) becoming notorious in jazz circles, and the solos of Dodds, Ory and Hardin sounding understandably pedestrian in comparison with Armstrongs. However, the ensemble passages are frequently effective, and the genius of Armstrongs cornet or trumpet playing sense of touch virtually every recording and practically provide elongate great passages.
